Booking fee calculator

What do booking fees really cost?

Percentage fees scale with every sale — the busier your season, the bigger the platform’s cut. Put your numbers in and see the real cost in NZ dollars, per month and per year.

All figures in NZD. No email required — the maths runs in your browser.

Your bookings, their fees

Enter your average booking value and how many bookings you take a month. We’ll show what each platform’s published (or reported) fees add up to.

That’s of online sales a month ( a year).

Watch the “who pays” column. FareHarbor and Xola add their fee at your guest’s checkout by default; TryBooking adds a 50c-per-ticket guest fee (its 2.5% is charged to you). Your guest pays more than the price you advertise — and it’s your brand that looks expensive, not the platform’s.

Platform & fee basis Who pays Per month Per year

FareHarbor

typically 6–8% added at your guest’s checkout — rate not published, set per agreement

flat 6% guest service fee on the booking subtotal

GoodKeen

flat plan: NZ$0 up to 25 bookings/mo, then NZ$39/mo — Pro NZ$79 for larger operations; never a percentage

Nobody, per booking — 0% fees

Sources: FareHarbor — rate not published; typically 6–8% guest checkout fee, set per agreement (fareharbor.com has no public rate card). Xola — 6% guest service fee per support.xola.com (Flex Standard, guest-pays). Rezdy — 3% online booking fee + plans per rezdy.com/pricing, checked Jul 2026 (prices region-detected; ex-GST in AU). Checkfront — US$99/mo (~NZ$163; currency unstated on their site) + 3% per checkfront.com/pricing, Jul 2026. ClassBento — 3.9% + $0.30 widget orders per classbento.co.nz/teach, checked Jul 2026. TryBooking — 2.5% + 50c/ticket per trybooking.com/nz/pricing. All rates as publicly listed or archived Jul 2026 — check each provider for current rates. Card processing (Stripe) is charged separately by your payment provider — including on GoodKeen. Exception: TryBooking’s 2.5% already includes card fees.

Fair’s fair: Bookeo and SimplyBook.me don’t charge booking fees either — with them the comparison is monthly price, booking caps and paid add-ons, not percentages. And Bookme is a great spare-capacity channel — just not a home for your direct bookings.

A worked example: NZ$10,000 a month

Say you take NZ$10,000 of online bookings in a month — a solid but not spectacular season. Here’s roughly what each platform costs.

Rezdy

~NZ$353+

a month — subscription plus 3% of sales, paid by you

Checkfront

~NZ$463+

a month — ~NZ$163 plan plus 3% of sales, paid by you

FareHarbor

~NZ$600–800

a month in fees — paid by your guests at 6–8%, on top of your advertised price

GoodKeen

NZ$39

flat — nothing per booking, to you or your guests

That’s a NZ$300–700 a month swing at modest volume — every month, before your season peaks. One analysis (captainbook.io) puts FareHarbor’s effective total cost at around 10.3% at volume.

Figures indicative, based on publicly listed or reported rates as of Jul 2026 — check each provider for current rates. Card processing (Stripe) is charged separately by your payment provider.

Why is this calculator even necessary?

Because most percentage-fee platforms don’t publish a rate card. As of July 2026:

FareHarbor

pricing page errors — no public rate card at all; the guest fee is set per agreement

Peek Pro

pricing page is a 404

Xola

pricing is sales-gated — “contact us”

Approach

pricing page returns a 403 — demo-gated

Our pricing is public

Three numbers, in NZD: NZ$0 (up to 25 bookings/mo), NZ$39 and NZ$79 a month. 0% booking fees on every plan — to you and your guests. Payments go through your own Stripe account, straight to you.

Frequently asked questions

FareHarbor doesn’t publish a rate card — its guest checkout fee is typically 6–8%, set per agreement. Its pricing page errors as of July 2026, Peek Pro’s returns a 404, and Xola’s asks you to contact sales. When the fee sits on your guest’s checkout rather than your invoice, it rarely appears on a public rate card — so operators have to ask.
It depends on the platform. FareHarbor and Xola add the fee at your guest’s checkout by default, so your guest pays more than your advertised price; TryBooking adds a 50c-per-ticket guest fee (its 2.5% is charged to you). Rezdy and Checkfront charge you a percentage of every online booking on top of a monthly plan. Either way, the money comes out of your booking.
It’s indicative. Rates are as publicly listed or archived in July 2026 — check each provider for current pricing. FareHarbor’s rate isn’t published at all, so we show the typical 6–8% range. Card processing (Stripe) is charged separately by your payment provider — including on GoodKeen. Exception: TryBooking’s 2.5% already includes card fees.
