Pottery & art studio booking software, minus the marketplace cut

GoodKeen is a New Zealand booking system for pottery, ceramics and art studios. Sell multi-week courses at a flat rate, cap taster sessions by the number of wheels, bake materials and firing into your prices, and issue NZ-law-compliant gift vouchers — for a flat monthly price, with 0% booking fees on every plan.

All prices in NZD. Built in New Zealand.

Four ways a studio sells — one system that fits all of them

A ceramics studio isn’t one product. It’s a course calendar, a taster pipeline and a sip-and-paint side hustle running on the same eight wheels.

The multi-week course, sold as one line

An eight-week wheel-throwing course isn’t eight sales — it’s one. List the course as its own activity with a flat price for the whole block. A student books once, pays once, and the whole course counts as a single booking against your monthly allowance.

The taster, capped at the wheels you own

A wheel only fits one pair of hands. Set the taster’s capacity to match — six wheels, six seats — put it on a recurring weekly schedule, and GoodKeen stops selling the moment it’s full. No apologetic phone calls to the seventh booker.

Materials and firing, baked into the price

Nobody wants a surcharge conversation at pickup. Use pricing tiers to build clay, glazes and both firings into the per-person price — NZ$95 all-in reads better than NZ$70 plus mystery extras. Flat-rate pricing is there too, for sessions you sell as a whole.

The checkout that won’t double-sell wheel six

When your Friday sip-and-paint gets popular, two people will want the last seat at the same moment. GoodKeen holds a seat for 15 minutes while its buyer pays, with a visible countdown — and unpaid bookings expire automatically, putting the seat straight back on sale.

One rate per order — never both

What a marketplace order really costs a studio

ClassBento charges by where the order came from. Each order pays one rate or the other — they’re alternatives, not a stack. Here’s how each channel compares.

ClassBento — its website

20%

of payments on orders that come from classbento.co.nz — the discovery channel, priced accordingly.

ClassBento — your widget

3.9% + 30c

3.9% + NZ$0.30 per order booked through its widget on your own site — your channel, still clipped per order.

GoodKeen — your channel

0%

flat NZ$0–79/mo. The only card cost is Stripe’s standard processing fee, which goes to Stripe, not to us.

Use both, deliberately. A marketplace is good at one thing: being found by people who’ve never heard of you. Keep it for spare seats. But when a regular books her fourth Tuesday-night hand-building session, that’s a relationship you built — point regulars at your own booking page and keep the lot.

ClassBento rates per classbento.co.nz/teach, checked Aug 2026 — each order pays one rate, by order source; check each provider for current rates. Card processing (Stripe) is charged separately by your payment provider.

How vouchers work in GoodKeen
  • You issue a card from your admin in under a minute — counter sales, phone orders, email requests — and the giftee redeems it online at checkout.
  • Partial redemption is tracked per card — a NZ$150 card covers a NZ$95 taster and keeps the NZ$55 balance for next time.
  • If a voucher-paid booking is refunded, the money goes back to the card first — the value stays with your studio.
  • Every card carries the NZ-law minimum 3-year expiry automatically — it’s hard-coded, so a busy December can’t break it.
The NZ gift-card law in plain English →

December is a voucher business

Ask any studio owner what sells in the fortnight before Christmas: not January seats — vouchers. “A pottery class for the person who has everything” is the reliable number-one line of the year, and most of it redeems across the quiet months that follow.

Since 16 March 2026, vouchers sold in New Zealand need a minimum 3-year expiry under the Fair Trading Act amendment, with penalties up to NZ$10,000 for an individual and NZ$30,000 for an organisation. GoodKeen enforces the floor on every card, so your Christmas rush is compliant by default.

And for the weeks that vouchers don’t fill? Promo codes do — percentage or fixed-amount, limited to specific activities and date windows, with usage caps. A code that only works on Tuesday-morning hand-building, capped at ten uses, is a quiet-week fix you can set up in two minutes.

The front-desk work, off your plate

You’d rather be glazing. The admin that eats studio evenings is exactly the part software should carry.

A customer list that remembers

Notes and tags on every customer — “prefers hand-building”, “pieces awaiting glaze firing”. Moving from a spreadsheet? CSV import, template included.

Reschedules that respect capacity

Kiln playing up? Drag the session to next week on the calendar — GoodKeen re-checks capacity as you drop it, and cancellation emails go out when you cancel.

Class-night front desk

Print the Daily Manifest — guest counts, phone numbers, notes, a check-in column — or scan guests’ QR tickets from any phone’s browser. Nothing to install.

Adult sessions by design

GoodKeen checks every participant’s date of birth at checkout and the over-18 rule is enforced by the system — a clean fit for adult classes, sip-and-paint and BYO evenings.

Your website, your bookings

Add booking to your own website with the embeddable widget, or use the hosted booking page if you don’t have a site yet. Either way, the channel is yours.

Paid straight to you

Payments land in your own Stripe account — we never hold your money. Full or partial refunds happen in-app, with PDF receipts for every booking.

Run cooking, craft or barista workshops alongside the clay? The classes & workshops page covers the wider timetable.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Set the course up as its own activity with one flat price for the whole block — clay, firings and all six sessions in a single figure. A student books once and pays once, and the whole course counts as a single booking against your monthly allowance.
Give each session type its own capacity. Eight wheels means a capacity of eight — GoodKeen stops selling at eight, and while someone is paying, their seat is held for 15 minutes with a visible countdown so it can’t be sold twice. Unpaid bookings expire automatically and the seat goes straight back on sale.
ClassBento is a marketplace: it charges 20% of payments on orders from its website, and 3.9% + NZ$0.30 on orders through your own widget — one rate or the other depending on where the order came from, never both (per classbento.co.nz/teach, checked Aug 2026). GoodKeen is a booking system for your own direct channel, with 0% booking fees on every plan. Plenty of studios keep a marketplace listing for spare seats and point their regulars at their own booking page.
Guests redeem vouchers online — they enter the code at checkout and the balance comes off the booking, with partial redemption tracked per card. You issue vouchers from your admin in under a minute, for counter sales, phone orders or email requests, and every card carries the NZ-law 3-year minimum expiry automatically.
Free forever up to 25 bookings a month with every feature included — and a booking is one reservation, so a couple booking a taster together counts once. Past the cap it’s a flat NZ$39/mo (Starter) or NZ$79/mo (Pro), no lock-in, 0% booking fees on every plan. Paid plans lift the cap; no feature is gated.
