Signed before they arrive, not at the counter
The clipboard queue is where a 10am start goes to die. GoodKeen moves the online waiver form into checkout, so signing happens on the couch the night before — not in your doorway.

Write your waiver once per activity that needs one. Your intro climb can carry different wording from your harbour paddle — each activity keeps its own text.

Each participant enters their details — GoodKeen checks every date of birth server-side, because it’s built for adults-only activities — and draws a real signature. There’s no app to install; it runs in the browser on any phone, and checkout holds the spots for 15 minutes with a countdown while the group passes a phone around.
The booking confirms, signatures attached
Confirmation email and QR ticket go out, and one signed waiver per participant sits on the booking — ready to open, or export as a PDF. On the day, it’s straight to the safety briefing.

A record you can put on the table
The awkward question never comes on the day. It comes months later — an insurer’s enquiry, a dispute, an auditor — and “they signed something at the desk” isn’t an answer. What did they sign? Which version? When, and from where?
GoodKeen answers all four. Every signature is stored against an immutable snapshot of the exact waiver text that was on screen, sealed with a cryptographic hash — so if the record had been altered afterwards, the hash wouldn’t match. Update your wording next season and nothing already signed changes underneath anyone.
The rest of the system holds the same line: bookings are audit-logged, payment credentials are encrypted at rest, and staff logins — unlimited, on every plan — support two-factor authentication.

Credit where it’s due: dedicated waiver platforms — Queenstown-built Wherewolf among them — do serious work for larger adventure-tourism operations, and if you’re running big volumes across many products they’re worth a proper look. What a waiver actually does in New Zealand
Most waiver marketing is written for American courtrooms. New Zealand works differently, and it’s worth being straight about what the document is for here.
It communicates risk
A guest who has actually read what a swift ebb tide or a lead fall involves shows up better prepared — and reads your briefing as confirmation, not news.
It captures informed consent
A drawn signature against specific wording, dated and attributed, is evidence the risks were disclosed and acknowledged — before arrival, not under time pressure at the desk.
It keeps the record
Who agreed to which version of your terms, when, from where — retrievable years later without digging through a filing cabinet of pen scrawl.
And what it isn’t: a liability shield
- Under the Consumer Guarantees Act (s43) you can’t contract out of consumer guarantees when supplying to consumers — no waiver wording changes that.
- Health and Safety at Work Act duties can’t be signed away (s28) — your obligations to run a safe operation stay yours.
- NZ’s no-fault ACC scheme covers most personal injury, so the American “sign away your right to sue” framing largely doesn’t map onto New Zealand.
