Two ways to sell the same boat
Most charter operations run both models in the same week. GoodKeen treats them as what they are — two different products on one calendar.
Share charters — sell by the seat
List a per-seat price and set the boat’s capacity — eight rods, ten, whatever the survey allows. Seats sell one, two, four at a time until the trip is full, and a 15-minute checkout hold with a visible countdown stops two groups from buying the same last seats.
Half-full trips stop being a mystery: the calendar shows exactly how many seats are left on Saturday’s 6am snapper run.
Private charters — one flat rate
The whole boat, one price, one booking, one payment. The group’s organiser pays in full at checkout, so the trip is committed money the moment it lands — no half-paid bookings to chase by text the night before, and no awkward maths when someone’s mate pulls out.
Full payment up front is the simpler model, and it’s the one serious groups expect anyway.
Each charter type is its own activity with its own weekly schedule and price — run Saturdays as share trips and keep Sundays for private groups, and see both on one calendar.
The trip, minus the admin
The paperwork around a charter is a drip feed — a form here, a text there, a phone call at 9pm about the forecast. Here’s where each job goes.
The moment they book
Paid in full, waiver signed, ticket sent
Payment lands in full in your own Stripe account — GoodKeen takes 0%; the only card cost is Stripe’s standard processing fee, which goes to Stripe, not to us. Every passenger signs the waiver with a drawn signature at booking (adults only — an 18+ date of birth is checked for each participant), and the confirmation email carries a QR ticket.

The reminder goes out by itself
An automatic reminder email reaches every booking the day before the trip — the single cheapest fix for no-shows there is. Anyone who still doesn’t front on the day is marked as a no-show automatically.
The night before
The weather call, without the ring-around
When the marine forecast kills tomorrow, open the day’s bookings and refund them — full or partial — in a couple of taps. Guests get a cancellation email and the money goes back the way it came. Got two hours in before it blew up? A partial refund covers that. Moving the trip to Sunday instead? Drag it across the calendar and capacity is re-checked as it lands.

The trip sheet prints itself
Print the Daily Manifest — one run sheet for the day with every booking, guest counts, phone numbers, booking notes and a check-in column. Prefer screens? Check passengers in by QR from any phone on the wharf — it runs in the browser, so there’s nothing to install.
Vouchers for the angler who has everything
Father’s Day and Christmas are voucher season for charter boats. Issue a gift voucher from your admin in under a minute — over the phone, at the wharf, however the sale comes — and the recipient redeems it online when they book their trip.
Partial redemption is built in, so a $300 voucher survives a $250 seat with the balance intact. And if a voucher-paid trip gets refunded, the money goes back to the voucher first.
Since 16 March 2026, vouchers sold in New Zealand need a minimum 3-year expiry. GoodKeen applies the 3-year floor automatically to every voucher you issue, so a Christmas voucher can wait out two winters and still be good.
