FareHarbor alternative
The FareHarbor alternative built in New Zealand
Flat monthly price. 0% booking fees — to you and your guests. NZD pricing, on an NZ-law agreement.
Free forever up to 25 bookings a month. No credit card required.
“Free” software, paid for by your guests
FareHarbor doesn’t charge you a subscription. Instead, your guests typically pay a 6–8% booking fee at checkout — the rate isn’t published; it’s set per agreement. In New Zealand, where advertised prices are GST-inclusive and the sticker price is the price you pay, that means your guest sees a bigger number at checkout than the one you advertised.

GoodKeen
0%
to you and your guests, on every plan
Worked example: take NZ$10,000 of bookings in a busy month. At 6–8%, your guests pay roughly NZ$600–800 in checkout fees. On GoodKeen they pay NZ$0 — a NZ$100 hire costs your guest exactly NZ$100, and you pay a flat plan from NZ$39/mo.

FareHarbor’s guest fee is typically 6–8%, set per agreement and not publicly listed; the effective-total-cost estimate is from an analysis by rival booking platform CaptainBook (captainbook.io), checked Aug 2026 — check each provider for current rates. The checkout fee isn’t the only line, either: FareHarbor’s published API fee terms (fareharbor.com/legal/api-fee-terms) add a separate percentage fee on bookings that arrive through OTA and API partners, applied per market. Card processing (Stripe) is charged separately by your payment provider.
Read the fine print before you renew
None of this is hidden — it’s all in FareHarbor’s published terms and public information. But it’s worth knowing before your next renewal date.
Your “free website” may not be yours
Under FareHarbor’s hosted-site terms, the custom code, templates and styles remain FareHarbor’s intellectual property and can’t be moved to another platform — so leaving means rebuilding your site, or paying FareHarbor to keep hosting it. GoodKeen embeds a booking widget in your website — it stays yours, whatever you do.
A Dutch-law contract
For New Zealand operators, FareHarbor’s provider agreement is governed by Dutch law. If anything ever goes wrong, that’s the legal system you’re dealing with. GoodKeen is a New Zealand company on an NZ-law agreement.
Annual renewal, 30-day notice window
The agreement renews annually, and cancelling means giving notice within a 30-day window — miss it and you’re in for another year. GoodKeen is month to month, cancel anytime; even our yearly option (pay for 10 months, get 12) stays cancel-anytime.
Support served from Sydney
FareHarbor’s support for New Zealand operators is served from Sydney. GoodKeen is built and supported in New Zealand — when you email us, you’re talking to the people who make the product.

FareHarbor vs GoodKeen, honestly
FareHarbor is a genuinely capable platform — a huge, mature feature set, an established global business, and a distribution network (FHDN) that connects operators to OTAs and agents. The question isn’t whether it’s good. It’s whether it’s built for how you sell.

If OTAs fill your calendar, stay with FareHarbor
Honest answer: if you’re a tourism operator who depends on OTA and agent bookings, FareHarbor’s distribution network serves you well and GoodKeen doesn’t connect to OTAs. GoodKeen is for locals-facing operators who sell direct from their own website — bike hire, kayak hire, classes and sessions — where every booking fee comes straight out of a local customer’s pocket.

Switching? Export before you cancel
FareHarbor has self-serve exports — your data isn’t locked in. But per its data processing agreement, provider data is deleted 12 months after termination, so do the exports first.
-
1
Export your bookings and customers
Use FareHarbor’s self-serve exports to download your full booking history and customer list while you still have dashboard access.
-
2
Export your outstanding gift cards
Unredeemed gift cards and vouchers are liabilities you must honour after you switch — export codes, balances and expiry dates. (New Zealand’s gift-card law now requires a 3-year minimum expiry — see our guide.)
-
3
Check your renewal date
The agreement renews annually with a 30-day notice window — put the window in your calendar so a missed date doesn’t cost you another year.
-
4
Mind the 12-month deletion clock
Per FareHarbor’s data processing agreement, provider data is deleted 12 months after termination. Everything you didn’t export is gone after that.
