What booking software really costs in NZ
An online booking system costs anywhere from NZ$0 to NZ$400+ a month in New Zealand — but the sticker price is rarely the real cost. What you actually pay depends on the pricing model: flat subscription, subscription plus a percentage, ‘free’ software funded by guest checkout fees, or marketplace commission.

The four ways booking systems charge
Every booking system on the NZ market uses one of these models. Once you know which one you’re looking at, the real cost is a five-minute sum.
Flat subscription
One monthly price, no per-booking charge. Your cost stays the same in February and in the Christmas rush — the model that rewards you for growing.

Rezdy runs $49/$99/$249 per month plus 3% per online booking (region-detected currency, ex-GST in AU). Checkfront is $99/€99 per month depending on region (currency unlabelled) plus a 3% online booking fee.
‘Free’ — funded by your guests
No subscription at all. Instead the software adds a fee to your guest’s checkout total — so the price your guests see is higher than the price you set.
FareHarbor works this way: the guest checkout fee is typically 6–8% — the rate isn’t published and is set per agreement. It never shows up on your invoice, which is exactly why it’s easy to miss when you’re comparing.

Whichever model you pick, five costs tend to surface only after you’ve signed up.
Card processing — always separate
No platform’s advertised price includes card processing; it goes to the payment processor, not the software. With GoodKeen, payments land in your own Stripe account and you pay only Stripe’s standard processing fees — which go to Stripe, not to us.
Foreign-currency billing
Bookeo bills in USD; Checkfront charges $99 or €99 depending on region, with the currency unlabelled. Your NZD cost moves with the exchange rate every month, plus whatever FX margin your bank adds to the card charge.
Ex-GST stickers
Rezdy’s pricing is quoted ex-GST in AU, while GoodKeen’s NZ$39 and NZ$79 are in NZD. An ex-GST sticker always looks cheaper — make sure you’re comparing the number that actually lands on your statement.
Booking caps and paid add-ons
Bookeo’s published activity tiers cap bookings at 1,000–3,000 a month, and waivers are a paid add-on from US$9/mo. A cap means your busiest month can push you into the next tier — the price you signed up at isn’t the price you keep.
The discount you fund on deal sites
On marketplaces, commission comes off the discounted price — and the discount itself comes out of your margin too. Operators typically report Bookme commission at 20%+, on top of the deal discount you fund. Two cuts from one sale.
