Boat & jetski hire bookings, from first launch to last light

GoodKeen is a boat and jetski hire booking system built in New Zealand. It sells hourly jetski slots and half-day or full-day boat hire online, collects a signed waiver from every rider before they reach the jetty, and takes 0% booking fees — free up to 25 bookings a month.

All prices NZD. No credit card to start.

One Saturday, start to finish

The shape of a summer Saturday when the bookings look after themselves.

7:45am

Print the run sheet with the coffee

The Daily Manifest is one page per day: every departure, guest counts, phone numbers, booking notes and a check-in column. Pin it up in the shed and the whole crew knows the day before the first trailer backs down the ramp.

9:00am

First riders scan in at the dock

Every confirmation email carries a QR ticket — scan it with any phone’s browser to check the group in. Nothing to install, and your weekend deckhand gets their own login (two-factor included), not your password. Waivers were signed at booking, and anyone who doesn’t front gets marked a no-show automatically.

12:40pm

A walk-up wants the 1 o’clock bowrider

Point them at your booking page on their phone. The moment they start checkout, the slot is held for 15 minutes with a countdown — the group queuing behind them can’t buy it out from under them. If they bail, the hold lapses and the slot frees itself.

4:30pm

The forecast turns for tomorrow

Southerly due by mid-morning? Refund tomorrow’s early hires in full or in part straight from the booking screen, or drag them to Sunday on the calendar — capacity is re-checked as you drop. Cancelled guests get an email without you writing one.

Sessions that mirror how you actually hire

Most jetski hire booking software is a tour platform squinting at a dock. GoodKeen builds sessions from your rate card instead: each hire type is its own activity with its own weekly schedule, capacity and pricing tier. (Searching for boat rental software? Same job — New Zealand just says hire.)

On the water Session pattern Pricing tier
Jetskis × 3 Hourly slots, 9am–5pm, capacity 3 Flat rate per machine, per hour
Runabout, half-day 9:00am and 1:30pm starts Flat rate per boat
Pontoon boat, full day One 9:00am start, capacity 1 Flat rate per day
Guided harbour ride Scheduled sessions, capacity 6 Per-person

Capacity is simply what’s tied up at your dock: three machines means three bookings an hour, and the 15-minute checkout hold makes a double-sale impossible.

Gift vouchers for the summer ahead

Issue gift vouchers from your admin — over the counter or by email — and guests redeem them against any hire at online checkout. Balances support partial redemption, refunds return to the card first, and NZ’s 3-year minimum expiry is hard-coded in.

Promo codes for the quiet edges

Percentage or fixed discounts with usage caps, minimum spend, date windows and first-booking-only rules — and you can limit a code to specific activities, so a March midweek deal fills the jetskis without discounting the charter boat.

The straight answer on fleet tracking

GoodKeen tracks sessions and capacity — not individual hulls. There’s no per-vessel maintenance log, engine-hour meter or asset register, and if that’s the thing you need most, a dedicated rental asset system may fit you better. But if the question is “how many boats are out at 2pm?”, capacity answers it from one calendar — and a boat hire booking system should earn its keep on bookings, waivers and payments first.

Waivers matter most where the concrete ends

Every participant signs at booking with a real drawn signature — before anyone is standing on your jetty holding a set of keys. Each signed waiver is stored with the exact text as it stood that day, a cryptographic hash, and the signer’s IP, device and timestamp. Export any of them as a PDF whenever you need to.

We won’t tell you a waiver makes you bulletproof — in NZ, nothing does. You can’t contract out of Consumer Guarantees Act protections, health-and-safety duties can’t be waived, and ACC reshapes what waivers are for. What a waiver does do is show you communicated the risks and conditions, and that every rider gave informed consent — in a record nobody can quietly edit afterwards. General information, not legal advice.

Adults only — enforced at checkout
  • Every participant enters a date of birth at booking — it’s required, not optional.
  • The server rejects any participant under 18 — the booking simply can’t be completed.
  • So before anyone arrives, you know every participant is over 18 and has a recorded DOB.

GoodKeen doesn’t administer maritime rules — briefings, licence checks and skipper calls stay yours. It just means age surprises never happen at the jetty.

January maths

Hourly jetskis add up fast — so do guest fees

A busy dock turns over dozens of slots a day all summer. On a platform funded by a checkout fee, your guests pay for every one of them.

FareHarbor

6–8%

typical guest checkout fee — not published, set per agreement

GoodKeen

0%

booking fees — to you and your guests, on every plan

GoodKeen plans

NZ$0–79

/mo flat, no lock-in — free forever up to 25 bookings/mo

Worked example: take NZ$24,000 of hire across January. At a typical 6–8% guest fee, that’s NZ$1,440–1,920 added to your customers’ checkouts in one month. On GoodKeen it’s NZ$0 in booking fees — you pay your flat plan plus Stripe’s standard processing fees, which go to Stripe, not to us.

Coming off another platform? Import your customers from a CSV — template included — and we’ll help you move your vouchers. Talk to us.

FareHarbor’s guest checkout fee is typically 6–8% — not published, set per agreement (per an analysis by rival platform CaptainBook, captainbook.io). Checked Aug 2026 — check each provider for current rates. Card processing (Stripe) is charged separately by your payment provider.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Each hire type is its own activity with its own weekly schedule, capacity and pricing — a flat rate per machine or per boat, or per-person pricing for guided rides. Guests see them together on one booking page, and you see every departure on one calendar.
The moment a guest starts checkout, their spot is held for 15 minutes with a visible countdown — nobody else can take it while they pay. If they wander off, the hold lapses and the slot frees itself, and any booking left unpaid expires automatically after 30 minutes.
Refund in full or in part straight from the booking screen — the money goes back the way it came, and anything paid by gift card returns to the card first. Prefer to save the day? Drag the booking to another day on the calendar and capacity is re-checked as you drop it. Cancelled guests get an email automatically.
No — GoodKeen tracks sessions and capacity, not individual hulls. Three machines means three bookings a slot, and the calendar tells you how many are out at 2pm. If you need per-vessel maintenance logs or engine-hour records, a dedicated rental asset system may fit better — for taking bookings and payments, capacity does the job.
No booking system can promise that, and we won’t pretend otherwise. In New Zealand you can’t contract out of Consumer Guarantees Act protections, health-and-safety duties can’t be waived, and ACC changes what waivers are for. What a GoodKeen waiver gives you is evidence of informed consent: the exact text each rider signed, a real drawn signature, and a record with timestamp, IP and device that nobody can quietly edit — exportable as a PDF. General information, not legal advice.
